Merry Christmas everyone! It has been awhile since my last post, but we have been on vacation at my parents. Right now we are getting ready for our Christmas dinner. This morning we woke up and had a traditional Hawaiian breakfast of Portuguese sausage, eggs & rice with shoyu (soy sauce). Yum, yum.
Then we proceeded to open presents. Alex is still not aware of what Christmas is (he is 19 months old) so mommy & daddy opened his presents with him. He really liked his new Mr. Potato Head, fish play tent (from Auntie Cathi), and Woody from Toy Story (from Grandma & Grandpa). Alex received many wonderful gifts this Christmas. Thanks to all who sent us gifts this year.
We skipped this year's photo with Santa because taking a photo of Alex has proved to be impossible over these past few months. He won't sit still, and refuses to look at the camera and smile. For Christmas, Alex and I took professional photos together for one of Daddy's gifts. The photographer was very patient (she has 5 kids herself) but said none of them were ever as active as Alex. Aunt Cathi came with us to help, and I'm glad she did because it took 4 adults to get Alex to stay next to his Mommy and look at the camera. The whole process took 2 hours. Alex would not sit still or let me hold him; he wouldn't look at the camera - and forget about smiling! We did get a few really good shots - and Mike will get to go to the studio this week and pick out his favorite photos (thankfully they are digital).
Poor Mike has a double-whammy, as our wedding anniversary is in four days. This will be our 5 year anniversary. It has gone by really quickly, and I can't wait to see what the next 5 years has to bring.
Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Kwanzaa & Happy Festivus.
